Kapa Haka: kruse

LI: To learn the teachings of our tupuna (ancestors) and the history of New Zealand's native people and their land.

Ls2 boys went to the Auckland museum to learn about Maori weapons, carvings in the wharenui, 7 taiaha moves and how to do the haka with a Taiaha. First we all went to the halll to talk about the chellenges and a video about going over the rules when we arrive to the museum.

On our way to the museum we practised the lyrics to the haka.

When we arrived to the museum we had to answer 6 questions about the museum. once we answered the 6 questions matua Ngarimu & matua Kingy added more questions to the chellenge. The 10 questions were: the name of the mountain that the Auckland museum was on, the name of the museum in maori 2 short weapons and 2 long weapons and the name of the patterns in the museum.

We then learnt 7 Taiaha moves and learnt the Maori haka using a Taiaha.

I enjoyed this trip and would like to learn a more about maori weapons, carvings and other treasures.
