Remembering Our Summer Holiday In Seven Sentences | By Alex

Today for writing all of LS2 had to create a copy of a DLO and then fill it out with seven sentences
(One for each sense) and also a picture of one of the sentences. We also had to try and use different
language features eg; a Hyperbole, a Simile, a Metaphor, Onomatopoeia etc.
I chose to create a picture of my sixth sentence in which I use a simile, the sentence is about when my
brothers blocked a door by pushing it to keep me from getting out.

Complete these sentences about an event over the summer holiday.
Don’t tell us what the event was just give us enough information that we can know for ourselves.

I heard a man running through the crowds, and a woman trying to calm her baby down.

I heard the object fall to the ground with an earth shattering ‘Clunk!’.

I saw an advertisement when I went to the cinema.

I wondered if I would see anyone that I knew there.

I wondered about the ending for the movie.

I felt like an ant when I tried to push the door open.
Although I felt one of my brothers trip me over, I quickly just got back up and chased after him.

- Me being unable to open the door because  they were pushing really hard.

Writing: Remembering Our Summer Holiday In 7 Sentences | By Jack

Today for writing, we needed to reflect a moment in our summer holidays. We were then given a template, with different human senses, and had to morph the senses into sentences about the event we chose to reflect. Once completed, we needed to show our work to a teacher, and illustrate the situation. The moment that I chose to reflect was when I went to a music store to get an amp with my guitar. I really liked this writing activity, and it really did get my imagination going wild once we had started illustrating.

I heard the ring as I walked through the door “RING”
I heard the instruments strumming, followed by a charming sound of an angel singing.
I saw many different shaped objects surrounding the room, like bees defending their hive.
I felt the vibrations from the differently pitched tones.
I felt each string get thinner and thinner the further I ran my fingers down the instrument, like a blunt knife getting
sharper and sharper.
I wondered if one day I could perform with my new hobby, and make a living out of it in the future.
Although I wondered how long this hobby would continue, I just continued to experiment with what I had.

I wondered if the bouncy castle is on today, although I do not want to get caught doing mischievous
things on it.
I saw one lifeguards looking at me like a spying camera.
I heard multitudes of splashes around the centre.
I heard girls screeching like a bunch of falcons and boys bombing like whales.
I felt the coldness of the water splash to my back.
I felt the water slithering around my body.
I wondered if the girl’s screeching would ever end.

Can You Guess What I Did Over The Summer Holidays? by Fraidoon

L.I. - Writing to recount

During the Summer Holidays I have done a lot of things like go to Australia. I enjoyed every part of my holiday, especially my uncles wedding. In my recount I have described one event that happened over the long break. Can you guess what I did? I have sentences describing what I did. Can you guess what I did by using the clues provided for you.

I heard the water crashing.
I heard the loud music piercing through my ears.
I saw the bright colours in the sky, but I was still not impressed
I felt the sand sliding through my palm.
I felt like I was waiting for years, until it was time.
I wondered when the countdown is going to start.
I wondered If there was going to be a big feast after this.

I heard people laughing and screaming. I saw wet people everywhere. I heard the guy next to me gasp as the cold water hugged his dry body. I felt my body start to shiver, that water really was cold. I wondered if how much time we had before closing? I wondered when we were coming back?

Today we used different language features to help us describe an event from our summer holidays. I have used my words to show rather than tell you what was happening. Can you work out where I was and what I was doing?
