This is my work that I have been working on at Tech. As you can see there is a defender and a goal attack while the goal keep is defending, the goal attack is getting ready to shoot a goal. I haven't quite finished yet.

World War 1

Did you know that World War 1 was the very first war to be fought around many different places  around the world? War is legalised violence.  It is the only time you would be able to kill somebody and not go to jail. War happens when countries do not agree with each other or the same country has two leaders. It always has huge consequences and many innocent people die. World War 1 was also known as the Great War and was the first war to be called a total war.

The conflict began in 1914 after the Archduke of Austria , Franz Ferdinand and his wife were assassinated by a Serbian student. The people of Austria-Hungary were angry and fought back by declaring war on Serbia. Most of the European countries had formed alliances and it only took one week before all of Europe was at war.

The smaller countries fighting for the Central Powers signed the armistice and agreed to follow the rules given by Allied forces in return for peace in their countries. They had to follow these rules as the Allied Forces took away all of their weapons so that they could not support anyone or fight back.  At the Paris Peace conference in January 1919 all the leaders from the countries who were in the war came together and formed the League of Nations. Their job was to stop any problems that might lead to war again.  65 million soldiers fought in this war, 8.5 million people died and over 21 million were wounded.  The main weapon used by British soldiers in the trenches was the bolt-action rifle.  Machine guns needed 4-6 men to fire them and had to be on a flat platform. They had the firepower of 100 guns.  Large field guns had a long range and could deliver horrible blows to the enemy but needed up to twelve men to work them. They fired shells which exploded on impact.  Tanks, planes and torpedoes were also used as weapons throughout WW1.

At the Paris Peace conference in January 1919 all the leaders from the countries who were in the war came together and formed the League of Nations. Their job was to stop any problems that might lead to war again.  All the countries in WW1 then signed the Treaty of  Versailles, which is the peace treaty. The treaty was signed between leaders of Germany and leaders of the allied countries. The german leaders did not have enough power and they disagreed with everything because they felt that the rules were too strict so there were some changes that were made that everyone agreed with. On June 28, 1919 the Treaty had been signed, and from then on peace was officially announced and everyone started to feel safe again.

After the conflict  many people were left without loved ones, property and jobs. This meant people got hunger and they couldn’t buy food as they had no money. For that reason there was a lot of sickness around in lots of countries in Europe.

Are you aware that this is the war that showed how brave the New Zealand troops were. They fought alongside the Australians in the Gallipoli campaign. The spirit they showed earned them the ANZAC name.

Vietnam War

Did you know that North Vietnam was so strict and didn’t like people to be relaxed and laid back. While South Vietnam was exactly the opposite. Thats how the conflict started. War is legalised  violence between two or more countries, or the same country if it has two or more leaders. It is the only time you can cause death without being punished.

North Vietnam was communist (strict) and didn’t like the way South Vietnam was acting. South Vietnam was westernised. This disagreement is what started the conflict. It happened in 1957 and ended in 1975. There were two sides fighting they were called the Coalition Forces and the Allied Troops.

There were a lot a weapons used in this war.  They used heaps of rifles and used airplanes as weapons too. They used boats and tanks to kill and destroy. There was a new deadly gas called napalm gas which burnt your skin and made your life miserable. Six million people died in this war. Are you aware that more people died in the war than there are people in Samoa and Tonga.

America took away their army from the war because they were anti war. Now South Vietnam had little support. North Vietnam was getting more weapons from Russia. They were getting stronger and South Vietnam was getting weaker, so South Vietnam had no choice but to surrender.

To show that North Vietnam was boss they changed the capital city of South Vietnam from Saigon to Ho Chi Min City. Vietnam was now a communist country and lived by very strict rules. A lot of people had no house and lived in poverty. Men in families were separated and had to go fight. A lot of children in Vietnam had two cultures (Vietnamese and American) and didn’t get treated the same.

Not many people know the youngest soldier killed was 16years old and the oldest soldier killed was 62 years old .

Vietnam War

War is when countries fight. Are you aware that 38 New Zealand soldiers died in the Vietnam war.

Vietnam was two countries, North Vietnam and South Vietnam. North Vietnam had lots of rules but South Vietnam had only a few rules. In 1957 the war started because North Vietnam was angry because they wanted South Vietnam to have the same rules. South Vietnam didn’t like this so they had a big fight.

Six million people died in the war. Four million were not soldiers. Some countries made some friendship promises with South Vietnam so they went to help them in the war. Those countries were called the Allied Forces. Australia,  South Korea, New Zealand and America all helped South Vietnam. North Vietnam and the Viet Cong were on the other side.

After the American soldiers went home South Vietnam stopped fighting and gave up. North Vietnam had won the war. They made South Vietnam have the same rules as them.

Lots of people from Vietnam were sad. They had no house, no food and some of their family died.

Today Vietnam is one country and they all have the same rules.

Photoshop Work: Jacob

This is what I did on photoshop. We were learning how to create different layers using photoshop. Everyone made one of these and they might be on their blogs so check it out. I did this because we are learning about digital design. First I clicked on the magic wand tool and deleted the background of the two photos. Next I dropped a picture of a skate on a new document. I dragged and dropped both photos into a good position on the skate park.
