Kokako facts by Mia

To show our understanding of the Kokako Bird we made an info-graphic about it. We also added images to show the appearance of the bird.  Did you know that the Kokako bird prefers to leap then fly. I also didn't know that that it was a native bird to New Zealand.

  1. Kia ora Mia,

I am Greanne. A student at Karoro School in the South Island. I think you presented you work in a great way. It is clear to read and is attractive. The poster is full of colours. I never knew any of these facts about the Kokako.

The different subjects that you wrote about ere very interesting and educational. I read in the newspaper that if you find the Kokako and take a picture or video you could win $5000. Do the South Island and North Island Kokako have similar features and habitat? Also what are wattles?

To improve your work you could be more specific when you talk about their habitat. What types of bush do they like to live in. There are also some grammar mistakes. In the work you have presented you could add the weather the North Island and the South Island Kokako are different or similar.

    Kind regards,

    Greanne

  2. Kia Ora Mia,
My name is Caitlyn, from Karoro school. I think you did a great job on the writing about the Kokako. I have never heard of that bird before.
We have also done writing about birds and animals at our school.

I liked how the photos are overlapping each other. Also how you said who took the photos. I like how the words are clear and you can read them.
I also like how you are using commas, full stops and hyphens in your writing.

Next time in your writing you need to add more information in each paragraph. In the appearance paragraph it’s like you are listing facts you need to put different words in each sentence.

Before you studied this bird have you ever seen it or heard of it before?
I haven’t seen this or heard of this before. Also have you heard of Tiritiri Matangi Island before?

Thank you for sharing your work with me. I really enjoyed learning about the Kokako.
