What is a River?

The challenge to use smart searching skills to create a 25 word summary that tells others what a river is. To do this successfully our learners needed to find a buddy then work collaboratively sharing their thinking and negotiating the ideas that would be included in their 25 word summary.

I like your post on what is a river? Its really interesting and I did not know that the start of a river is called a source. Maybe next time add in some more information. What was your favorite thing about making the slide?

I would like to say that I really enjoyed your “ What is a river?” post. I really thought that the way you split up into buddies and negotiated together about what a river is was fantastic! I loved how two of you talked about tributaries, that was really intelligent. How did you know so much about rivers? I found it very informative and helpful.

The diagrams were full of information that portrayed what you were saying and they were very accurate. I really liked the extra information that was in there. One of the diagrams said that the source of the river was the mouth. That left me confused. I liked how some of you showed estuaries in your diagrams. Nice work!

That's what I liked about your work. Keep posting work like this. From Arly.

I enjoyed reading your diagrams of the river. I also really like the idea of the diagrams of a river because that shows me the different parts of the river. I never knew about some of the specific parts of the river.

What you could work on is that on some of them I couldn't read. So next time you could make the font bolder or bigger.
It will also be good if you could also do diagram of something else water related or another good diagram because the river one was very good.

  5. Hello,
My name is Zoe from Karoro School
I like that you have explained what a river is very clearly. I also like that all of you have added diagrams to show where and what you mean. Yous have clearly showed what you know about rivers.

You could add a video also to explain more about what you are talking about. This piece of work is sort of like my where does water come from piece of work. You have very smart learner in you class and I hope to see more of your work.

All of you have done a great piece of work on this and are great writers. Next time you could add more writing to explain. And in the sixth page there is an error you misspelled a word.

  6. Kia ora,
My name is Caitlyn. I think you did a good job on what is a river. I have never really thought of that, as a question before. We haven’t done anything ever learnt about what a river is.

I liked how you all have different reasons for what a river is. I also liked how you had to have a 25 word summary, about what a river is. It is cool how you put all of your work, into a slideshow to show all of your work.

Next time I think you should put more full stops or a coma because there is only like one full stop for over 25 words. Also I think you should tell us that all of the class was in the slideshow too because, I didn’t know that all of the class was in the slideshow.

Is the river that you have in your drawing, your river in your area? The river that is near me is called the Grey River. That is why the town is called Greymouth because of the Grey River. The river is also like a mouth opening up.

I really like how you had to have 25 words in your paragraph and all of your work was in one slideshow. Also you all had different reasons for what a river is.

I like the way you presented your work on what rivers are, and what was that web site you used.

I like how interesting rivers can be when you talk about them.

One thing you can improve on is spelling on Sa Kae, Brooklyn and Shakaias work it said ¨A river is a waterway that travels down intob the ocean ¨ I think it is supposed to say¨A river is a waterway that travels down into the ocean ¨ maybe you can fix that up and maybe you can put a little bit more information on rivers.
