Queen Elizabeth II Blog by Carson
LI: to research the reign of the royal family

For this activity me and my partner Kingston made a DLO about Queen Elizabeth that sadly pass away at the 8th on september 2022.
My partner and I answer some question that we got from our class and answer them with google. We also can talk about facts about Queen Elizabeth, Queen Elizabeth story/back story and about her. We found some very intresting facts about her: She is the longest reigning monarch ever in Britain, The Queen's birthplace is now a fancy Cantonese restaurant and The Queen's birthplace is now a fancy Cantonese restaurant. We also presents our DLO to our class.
I really found this activity shocking when Queen Elizabeth pass away.
Who is at Fault? by Paul
LI: To make an informed opinion
This week we have been learning about bias. Bias can be objective which means you see both sides of a story or subjective which means being influenced by past experiences. We looked at the same story from different perspectives. A perspective is a person's point of view. After reading and summarising both texts we thought about and talked about the facts to help us make an informed opinion.
Our group found this interesting because we got two sides of the story
Something I found interesting was in both stories the other animal was the villain
Tongan Language Week by Taua
LI: To celebrate and learn the Tongan culture.
For Tongan Language week LS2 was set with a task to explain the tongan culture aspects. We learnt Tongan words and facts. One of our favourite facts is that Tonga is the only country that has not been colonised.
We also learnt about the tongan flag and the meaning behind the red cross and what it symbolises.
The activities we did were/ learned: Tongan Conversations, foods, colours and numbers and facts about Tonga. We learnt a lot about the Tongan culture and what the traditions are.
We enjoyed this activity because it helped me learn from others and embrace my culture.
Unfamiliar Text - by Josh
LI: to make sense of an unfamiliar text
This week we have been looking at making sense of an unfamiliar text. We looked at the title of the poem and made predictions of what the poem was about. We then read the poem and compared our initial predictions to what the text was about. After this, we unpacked the story using our prior knowledge, knowledge of old and new words and mood and atmosphere to make meaning of what the text was about while justifying our thinking with evidence.
I found this activity fun & interesting because the fun part about it is that we were unfamiliar about the text then when we learnt about it that's the fun part.
The interesting part was our predictions our initial thought or prediction was that Waltzing Matilda was about a girl learning how to dance we thought about that because waltzing is a dance & matilda is a girl name but when we took a read of the poem we new our prediction were wrong and so we changed our groups prediction and then went deeper into the poem.

Mood and Atmosphere - Language Features by Koura-Beau
LI: To identify how authors use language features to create mood and atmosphere in a text
We have been exploring the ways writers use words to create mood and atmosphere in a text. Our group used a text we read in class called Sheldon Rua's Poem. You can see the ways the author used different language features to create mood and atmosphere in this text by looking at the examples we have highlighted and explained in our DLO.
I found this challenging because the author used really strong and interesting words such as ironic, ignorance, eager, etc.

Duffy Confidence CARE AWARD by Kahu

Last week I did my first Duffy for 2022. First, I picked a book that I have chosen from the library. The book I have chosen was Diary of a Wimpy Kid. It was written and illustrated by Jeff Kinney. Next, Chisa and Te Raumati helped me write my Duffy script for assembly. Afterwards I practised my script before assembly so that I knew the words so I wouldn't mess up. Lastly, I presented it to the whole school about the book I read and the escorts picked their books.

Reading for Enjoyment by Deziah
LI: To carry out a statistical investigation, and reading status of LS2

For math we worked in groups of three to create a statistical inquiry. We first posed a question. Our question was " do you read for pleasure?." This week our Inquiry lesson was focused on showing how we think healthy relationships can have a positive impact. In our DLO, we showed how healthy relationships can impact something in a positive manner and what healthy relationships are to us. We all have different opinions on healthy relationships and what we think it could have an impact on.

Reading Analasis by Mahdi
LI: To explore and analyse our reading habits We conducted a Ls2 reading analisis to see how much of the class reads for pleasure. We also asked different questions that are related to reading. The point of this task is to find the problem and think of a solution to that problem. In this case the problem is that most of the class is not reading for pleasure. A possible solution is we could have a 30 minute book reading for pleasure session every day in the library where there are more varieties of books. This task showed me the problem and I created a possible solution.

Florence read the Samoan version of the book and I read the English version of the book. The book we read was called Swimming by Vaitoa Baker. We also had a book that we did activities in. The activities that were in the book were where we write a summary of the book and the draw a picture of my favourite part in the book. Florence would ask me questions on the book and ask me about my favourite part in the book. I really enjoyed reading with Florence.

Waltzing Matilda by Mele and Angela

This week for reading we have been looking at different types of ballad poems. The ballad poem that we talked about was the Waltzing Matilda. The Waltzing Matilda poem is a ballad poem, created by Banjo Paterson. Angela and I worked collaboratively to create this activity. Listening to the poem, we used our inference strategy to draw the clues in the poem. In my image I have included the features, of a Swagman lying underneath a coolibah tree. We unpacked the language in the poem and identified what each word meant in it's own context. Above shows the summary that Angela and I have written together. We added 20 important words from the text, 6 most important words, and we used the 6 words to sum a whole summary about our story.
Waltzing Matilda by Jack and Giovanni
Last week for reading, we started an activity. The activity was to read the poem Waltzing Matilda by Banjo Paterson. After reading the poem, we needed to get into pairs, and analyse and unpack the the poem. With this information we then needed to go through a couple of questions. This included which version of the poem did you prefer, the original or new version? What do you think the poem was about? And what Literary Devices could the poet use to paint a vivid image in our heads? Once those questions were answered, the final step was to create a DLO that would explain what the poem was about in a summary. To help keep our ideas in order, a template DLO was given to us which we could use to store our ideas. For this activity I worked Giovanni, and we had a lot of fun.

Sharks by Ellenora
Sharks are carnivores, that means they only eat meat like sea lions, dolphins or smaller sea creatures like crabs. It is true that sharks have attacked humans but not many people know that only 12 species of sharks have ever done this. A baby shark is called a pup and a group of sharks are known as shivers, shoals or schools. You can find sharks in every ocean but they won’t be staying still because they have to keep the water moving over their gills to stay alive.

Tsunami by Florence, Miiana, Nevaeh and Matthew
This week for reading we worked collaboratively to find information about Tsunamis. In my group was Miiana, Matthew, and Florence. First, we started off with writing down the things we already knew about Tsunami's, Questions that we wanted to know about Tsunami and things we learned about Tsunamis. Then we made a D.L.O about basic information on Tsunamis. The most interesting thing I found out about Tsunami was that it is a Japanese word for "Harbour Wave".
Wildboy by Nidhi
This week on reading, my reading group and I did reciprocal reading on a book called wild boy. It was about a boy who's name is Brando Yelavich and he wanted to be the the first person to walk around New Zealand's entire coastline. He also wrote a book about his adventurer and their are articles about him. I really enjoyed reading about him and I learned about how he survived in the wild life. And I learned that we should try taking risks and explore the world more.
