How the camel has adapted to surviving in the desert?

Introduction

Have you ever heard of a camel? What is a camel? Well a camel is a mammal with a very large neck that lives in a desert. They live in the desert because they are adapted to living in a hot and dry place. Adapt means when an animal makes changes so it can live healthy at it’s place.  Today I am going to tell you the six adaptations that a camel has and why it has it.

Thick Lips & Thick Thur

First I will be talking about it’s thick lips and why it has a thick lip. Camels have thick lips so they can eat the spiky and prickly plants without feeling hurt or pain. Camels also have thick fur which gives them warmth during cold desert nights. They have thick furs to protect them from getting burn as well.

Eye, Ears and Nostrils

Secondly we will be talking about what their eyes, ears and nostrils have to protect them. Camels have eyelashes around their eyes so they can can defend themselves from any sandstorm disaster and also the sun. Camels also have hairs in their ears and nostrils so it can protect them from the sandstorm as well. These parts of the body really need hair.

Feet

Next we will be talking about the camel's feet. Camels have wide feet so they can walk and move easily on the sand. The camel's feet contains pads so it can secure it from the hot sand. The pads also protects them from sinking into the sand. Did you know that when they place their feet on the ground the pads spread out which makes its feet wide. I think the pads are really vital to camels.

Diet

Lastly the food they eat. Camels have one or two humps. Inside the humps are fat which can be used for food. Did you know that Camels eat salt bushes, dry plants, huge thorns and bones. When camels are thirsty they drink water from the cactus. Not many people know that Camels can drink up to 46 litres of water in one whole session. Interestingly camels can go up to 30 days without water.  

Camels have changed throughout the years but will stall enjoy the hot and parched desert.

This term for writing we have been learning how to write an explanation. First we wrote down all the ideas of what a explanation has. I learnt that an explanation has to have present tense words for example the present tense word for slept is sleep. After writing all the ideas down we decided to write an explanation about how the camels has adapted to surviving in the desert. One interesting fact that I learnt about Camels is that camels live up to 40-50 years long.

Why do I need a good grade for college?

When I go to college I need a good grade for when I go to enrol. The school will want to know what I’m good at and what I need help with.

I need to work hard in Year 8 so when I show them my report they know what I’m working hard on and what I can achieve.

When I’m at college I have to try hard to achieve goals so I can be what I want to be. They want to know what I can do so they can teach me new things.

College is a place where big kids go to learn about more things and so they are ready to get a job or go to university. When I do work at college it going to be challenging so I need to make sure I have the skills I need to help me understand the harder work.

By getting good grades at school in Year 8 I will get to choose the college I want to go to. The college will want high standards so Year 8 is the time for me to focus.

Why is Facebook is a Problem?

Shockingly, it has been discovered that one and a half billion people log onto Facebook everyday! With so many people using Facebook lots of problems are happening on this social networking site.

Firstly problems start happening when people write negative things about other people. Lots of people see these comments and start thinking the wrong thing. This is because people believe what is written. When rumours start it becomes serious and is called cyber bullying.

Cyber bulling is a huge problem because it affects a lot of people. Cyber bullies post false information which makes victims feel embarrassed and humiliated as other people are commenting on things that aren't true. This means Facebook can be misleading.

Misleading people is another danger of Facebook. You can pretend to be someone else, or you can be tricked by someone who is pretending to be someone else. To make sure you are safe think about who you are adding as a friend on Facebook.

Remember staying safe is one of the biggest problems on Facebook and is the most important thing. Think about what you post, what you read and what you comments on. With one and half billion users everyday things go wrong because on a social networking site everybody can see what you post.

The dictionary says assessment is the action of assessing someone or something. At school teachers use assessments to see what the students know and what they still need to learn. Are you aware that assessments used to be called tests. Things have changed since our ancestors went to school one hundred years ago. If you got lots of answers wrong you had to stand in the corner wearing a dunces cap to show everyone that you were that you got lots wrong in your tests.

At Panmure Bridge School we do assessments that tell us what level we are in Reading, Maths and Writing. We answer questions in Maths and Reading on our netbooks. Sometimes we do tests on paper like the IKAN test which tells us what we need to learn and achieve in Maths. It is easier to use our netbooks so we can delete any mistakes.

We do assessments so the teacher can help us with the questions we don’t know and this helps the teacher plan what we are going to learn. Making a mistake is ok because we can learn from each others mistakes.

Assessments help us learn new things and helps the teachers learn new things as well. Assessments show what level you’re at and what you still need to learn. Our marks let our parents know where they can help us with our learning at home.

Sometimes you do well and sometimes you make mistakes when you do assessments. You should always try your best and be focused on your work. Remember to read the questions carefully so that you answer the questions right.

Why my blog is unique

As strange as it may seem my blog is only 3 years old yet I have posted over 500 blog posts! Did you know that there is a cluster of schools that learn digitally from year 5 through to your last year in college. A blog is an individual personal website where you can publish your ideas and opinions.

My blog is very unique to me because it is my personal individual website. I can record my ideas and opinions onto it. Have you ever wondered if you could design or modify your own blog? Well you can! If you're a student you can ask your teacher to change the design of your blog. The theme of my blog is unique and bold.

Did you know that if I go somewhere for the holidays and I am connected to the internet I can easily upload a blog post about the fun time I am having. I can be anywhere, anyplace, at anytime as long as I’m connected to the internet and have a device.

Not many people know that as soon as I learn something new I can learn, create and share my leaning onto my blog. In my class we have 27 blogs yet each and everyone’s blog is different. My blog is unique and special because it is my individual blog.

Why my blog is unique

Do you remember what you did on the first day of school? I don’t but I do know all the work I have done since Year 5 because I have a blog that has everything that I have done for the past four years. A blog is a personal website which I can update each week with the work I do.  It is like a timeline that holds information that I can share with a global audience.

My blog allows me to show the work I have done individually or collaboratively. I can be anywhere in the world and I can still post things on my blog, no matter what time it is. I am able to modify and change things on my blog, for example: change the background to the colour I like, or write a small introduction about myself.

You can also access other people's blogs and leave your digital footprint by making a comment on something they have posted. When you leave a comment, you are giving feedback and feedforward, to help them take their learning to the next level.

Having my own blog allows me to keep a record of my learning. It’s like my own personal timeline that holds  special memories of my past and present work. The work I blog is like a  stage performance.The first scene is when I start my work, then comes the intermission where I complete my work. To finish the performance I publish it on to my blog, and wait for the feedback from my global audience.

There are many blogs around the world, each one different and unique. Having a blog, is a great privilege,  so remember, if you have one continue posting things on it, and if you don’t, think about creating one.

How an egg becomes a frog

A tadpole is a baby frog Tadpole lives in the water it is an amphibian.

Frogs lay eggs. When the eggs the baby frogs came out they are called Tadpoles.

When the tadpoles hatch they have a tall to help them swim after a few weeks they grow legs.

After that the Tadpole is nearly a frog but it still has a tail. It is new called a froglet.

Finally the froglet turns into a frog it has no tail and it can breathe on land.

Frogs live by water.
