Positive Relationship by Bella

LI: To understand how a healthy relationship has a positive impact. We have been learning about the values of a positive relationship and how a healthy relationship has a good effect on people. First, we thought about what a positive relationship looks like to ourselves and then created a DLO talking about our look on positive relationships.

We then wrote down why a healthy relationship is important to have and conversed with others on our understanding of positive relationships. I then wrote down the qualities of a positive relationship and created a simple diagram. The purpose of this task was to build a more complex understanding of the impact that a healthy relationship has.

Reading for Enjoyment by Deziah

LI: To carry out a statistical investigation, and reading status of LS2

For math we worked in groups of three to create a statistical inquiry. We first posed a question. Our question was " do you read for pleasure?." This week our Inquiry lesson was focused on showing how we think healthy relationships can have a positive impact. In our DLO, we showed how healthy relationships can impact something in a positive manner and what healthy relationships are to us. We all have different opinions on healthy relationships and what we think it could have an impact on.

Reading Analasis by Mahdi

LI: To explore and analyse our reading habits We conducted a Ls2 reading analisis to see how much of the class reads for pleasure. We also asked different questions that are related to reading. The point of this task is to find the problem and think of a solution to that problem. In this case the problem is that most of the class is not reading for pleasure. A possible solution is we could have a 30 minute book reading for pleasure session every day in the library where there are more varieties of books. This task showed me the problem and I created a possible solution.

Vocabulary Knowledge by Farzana

LI: To explore and extend your vocabulary knowledge. Our focus for writing was based on exploring a range of different words in order to expand our vocabulary knowledge. First we had learning conversations to explain our opinions using words in the correct context. After that, we collaborated with our partners so we could build our knowledge on four words which are: urge, commend, banter and stern. Urge is to persuade or talk someone into doing something. Commend is praising or congratulating someone for their accomplishments. Banter means to tease someone in a joking/silly way. Being stern is being strict or serious to someone. We role-played our explanations to paint a better picture of our understanding. We extended our vocabulary by collaborating with each other, having learning conversations and roleplaying our explanations. I found this activity enjoyable because we could work together in order to explore new and different words.

Film and Video Editor by Hector

For careers I took a career quiz that had multiple selections to see what job or career I am interested in. There were 78 questions meaning there were 78 jobs/careers that were in the quiz. I chose to be a film and editor because I can make lots of money and I can try out new transitional effects, sound effects, and create new content, I can also show everyone what my skills are and what I am capable of to film and edit content.

Working as a video editor can involve editing skills, need to have the ability to pick the correct sound tracks for each scene, you need to be able to add credits at the end of your film, and also you will need to pay some transitional effects if it is not free.

Working as a filmer can involve accurate eye sight, where you are going to be positioned, where the scene is going to take place, and to make sure the camera is directed to one scene at a time. I learnt that a film and video editor can take a couple of years to practise and have editing skills to become a professional.

Research: Diana

LI: To make a DLO to show information about Pandas.

Today I made a DLO to show about the Giant pandas. First we opened a google draw and then we made it interesting by adding the information about the giant pandas. After I added a picture of the panda. I enjoyed it because this activity taught and showed me more facts and information about the giant pandas.

Cybersmart: David

LI: To make a DLO about being cybersmart.

Cybersmart is a term of using learn, create, and share on your computer by using smart and clever ways.

For those who are new to keyboards, they have shortcuts, some are:

Ctrl + Z to undo

Ctrl + Y to Redo

Ctrl + C to Copy

Ctrl + V to Paste

And loads more.

Being cybersmart is important because if you don’t make wise choices online people your actions might have big consequences.

This activity was enjoyable because all of my ideas come from my prior knowledge about being cybersmart but some ideas are from websites and wrie in my own words.

Virtual Adventure: Chris

Our activity was to create a map of all the places and destinations we would like to go to but the places had to be the capital of that country. I myself only included 5 different countries or capitals, and the majority of them were Asian countries. The countries I included were South Korea, Japan, Thailand, The UK, and Singapore.

This activity was fun doing because I got to explore these countries, and my favorite country out of those 5 were Thailand.

Giant Panda Research: Fau, Leon and Chris

L.I:  To use our smart searching skills to find information about the giant panda

Our activity for today was researching about Giant pandas.  We created paragraphs to inform interesting facts and things about giant pandas. In our task we had to write down information about pandas on a note sheet. After writing down our information we wrote down paragraphs. The paragraphs was basically used to sum up our information that we wrote down on our note sheet. After writing everything down we created a DLO which had all the information about Giant pandas.  We found this activity interesting and also gave us the opportunity to find out more about Giant Pandas and how they survive in the wild.  One interesting fact I learnt about Giant pandas is that they consume around 44lb (20kgs) of bamboo.

Cybersmart: Chris

LI: to give a helpful tip to people about Cybersmart

Our Cybersmart activity was to give a tip about Cybersmart. It could be anything like cleaning your drive or even something like organizing your bookmarks. My tip was about how to hold a chromebook in the proper manner or the proper way. I feel like this is a good tip, because Panmure Bridge is a digital school and start using chromebooks at Yr 4. In my DLO it shows a photo of me on how to hold a chromebook, and instructions on how you should hold it. Then lastly why you should hold it like that.

Giant Panda Research | Writing: Juel, Sulia and Farzana

LI: to use our smart searching skills to find information about the giant panda.

Our focus for this challenge was based on writing TEEL paragraphs about giant pandas. After using our smart searching skills, we used the TEEL structure in order to write paragraphs. TEEL is the acronym for: topic sentence, elaborate, evidence and link sentence.

First we researched about giant pandas and found information about them. After this, we made bullet point notes including the main points of our research. These notes helped create sentences with all the main ideas and made it understandable.

After making the notes we started writing our TEEL paragraphs. TEEL paragraphs help us to expand our knowledge/ideas and formulate our thinking into informational pieces of text.

We found this activity very enjoyable because we collaborated together to find out shocking information about pandas. One thing I learnt from this activity was that giant pandas are very close to extinction.

Tatau: Spelman

L.I: To create a DLO that tells others about tatau.

Today I made a DLO about my cultures tattooing. I used my smart searching skills, I needed to out find what tattoo is in Tongan and samoan, also the meaning. There is a picture showing of what a Tongan tattoo is. Tattoo in Tongan is tatatau and tattoo in samoan is tatau. The tattooing represented the individuals love, loyalty, to their family or 'aiga, and the new responsibilities they had to bear. The Tongan tatau represented Tongan society and the journey of the Tongans past, present and future.

I found quite hard was to find the meaning because there was website that didn't have the meaning of the  tradtional tatau. A fact I found interesting was in Tonga, tattooing was a vibrant part of the culture until the early 1800s. I enjoyed this activty because I learnt new things about tattooing in my culture.

Cultural Art: Spelman

L.I: To create a piece of cultural art.

Inspired by art creations by Raku Inoue we went outside and collected leaves, twigs, and other plant debris to create our own cultural pattern or symbol. I thought of making a butterfly for my creation. I collected two big leaves and two small sized leaves. I also collected 6 regular sized yellow dandilions, one big yellow dandilion, one meduim sized stick, two small sized sticks.

I found it quite hard was getting a medium sized stick because there mutiple of large sticks and small sized twigs. I enjoyed this activity because I get to show my creation and show people that they can make a creation of there own. An interesting fact I found out about Raku Inoue is that you can be really creative of what the things you are making.

Tatau: Aisea

LI: To create a DLO that tells others about tatau.

Tattooing has played an important part in many cultures over time. Our challenge was to use our smart searching skills to find out about traditional tattooing in our own culture. I really enjoyed doing this task as I get to learn a lot more about my Culture. I also really liked working with my partner as we shared our ideas and worked collaborative. The most interesting fact I learnt was some people do tatting to represent their culture. My partner and I used our searching skills to find facts and information about tattooing and what it means to our culture.
