Sporcle Challenge: Liletina

The DLO showing above was worked collaboratively with my partner. We wrote what we enjoyed and what the challenge is. We first went onto the website and read the introductions to understand what the game is about and How we can play. We also then find quizzes that gives us more understanding into learning what the topic is about. 

Distance Learning - Cultural Art: Ong

 LI: to keep our learning going.

This is our first distance learning challenge of the week, we could choose any two challenge on our distance learning class site. I chose to do the Cultural Art, inspired by Raku Inoue. For this cultural art we were supposed to go in our backyard and find things we could make insect or bugs out of. I chose to do a butterfly, because while I was finding things in my backyard one landed on me. to make this butterfly I used some flowers which I thought would look good on this butterfly. What I found fun was getting to explore my garden.

Tatau: Afa

 LI: To create a DLO that tells others about tatau.

Today I made a DLO about tattooing in my culture. The first thing I did was I used my smart searching skills to find out what the Tongan traditional tattoo looks like,what it means, and what It's called. I then found out that the Tongan tattoo is called the tatau And that the tatau represented the Tongan people's loyalty and love to their family and the new responsibilities they had to support. I also found out that the Tongan tatau is a representation of Tongan society and the journey of the  Tongan people’s past, present and future. I found it quite hard to do this because I didn't know that much about the Tongan tattoos. I enjoyed doing this activity because  I got to learn new things about the Tongan tatau. An interesting fact I found out about the tatau Is that  how the tatau represented the Tongan people's loyalty and love to their family and the new responsibilities they had to support this activity was fun and cool. I hope we get to do another activity like this in the future.

 LI: To create a DLO that tells others about tatau

Tattooing has played an important part in many cultures over time. Our challenge was to use our smart searching skills to find out about traditional tattooing in our own culture. This DLO is showcasing the History and the Tradition of the tatau and about why people get them and were it was first discovered and the origin of the word tatau. tatau is the Samoan word for Tattoo and is worn by men and women

I found it quite hard to look for information and photos of the tatau and the tools used as there were not as many articles and photos that were about the tatau.

I enjoyed this activity becuase it was really fun learning about the Samoan Tatau and I found it interesting to learn bout how it came to Samoa.

An interesting fact I found out about the tatau is that the word tatau is from the polynesian language and the word tatau originate from the tapping sound of the tools

Virtual Adventure | Distance Learning: Lukah

 LI: To plan a virtual trip around the world

  

Our challenge was to create a map using google/mymaps and drop pins on the locations visited. The next part of this challenge was to find the capital city of each place and include it in the information in the pin. I found it quite hard to find countries I want to go to because I don't have many places I would want to go. I enjoyed finding out the capitals of the different countries I picked.

Virtual Adventure: Chris

Our activity was to create a map of all the places and destinations we would like to go to but the places had to be the capital of that country. I myself only included 5 different countries or capitals, and the majority of them were Asian countries. The countries I included were South Korea, Japan, Thailand, The UK, and Singapore. 

This activity was fun doing because I got to explore these countries, and my favorite country out of those 5 were Thailand. 

P.E Infinity Tag & Stuck in the Mud: Bella

LI: To use our stamina and apply our sports abilities to a game of Stuck in the Mud.

Yesterday, as of every Thursday, the year 7 and 8's were seperated and each group went outside onto the court for a game of Stuck in the Mud.

First, we had a short discussion with the P.E coach about the rules. The taggers are given cones so that people know they are taggers.

To play Stuck in the Mud, the taggers must tag others with a cone. Every other player must avoid being tagged. When a player is tagged, they must stay in one spot and do starjumps until someone high-tens that person.

Next, we played a game of Infinity Tag. In infinity tag, everyone is a tagger and they must try to tag other people before they get tagged. When they are tagged, that person can either do push-ups or frog jumps until someone frees them by doing a high-ten with them.

I enjoyed this session of P.E and learning how to play a new sport as it helps me in the future by improving my knowledge as well as allowing me to play stuck in the mud and infinity tag.

We are Learning Space 2, a Year 7/8 class at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland. Our teachers are Mrs Anderson and Mrs Fisi'iahi. The greetings we began our introduction with show we are rich in culture with lots of us speaking more than one language. We are a collaborative class who love sport and learn best when we learn with and from each other. 

 

The Qualities of a Good Leader by Bella, Chris, Juel, Farzana and Kauri-Tinielle

LI: To unpack what leadership looks like.

Our Inquiry objective was to think and learn about the four important qualities of a good and reliable leader and what leadership looks like.

In our groups, we started by talking about the four qualities of a good leader and the definition of each quality. The four qualities of a good leader are: leadership, responsibility, being a role-model and team work.

One we defined each quality, we wrote down as many words as we could that related to the qualities of a good leader.

After this, our group came together to write a 25 word paragraph that talks about the qualities of a good leader. We used the words that we picked out from the list to create this paragraph. 

Finally, we created an infographic poster (using a google draw) to  define the four qualities a good leader should have.

I enjoyed creating the 25 word paragraph summary because I was able to define what a good leader looks like from my perspective and share what I think a quality leader should be and their expected capabilities.

Statistical Investigation by Lukah

 L.I To plan and carry out a statistical investigation.

Today LS2 worked together in partners to analyse one of four topics. In this maths session we chose four questions for people to answer (what is your favourite colour, etc), and we recorded those answers on a piece of paper. Second we chose one question out of the four and used that for our graph. We used the data from the paper and created a pie chart on google sheets. We then created a summary of the data we had recorded.

Leadership by Vayan, Fau, Aisea, Ong, Chisa and Azatulah

LI: To unpack what a leader looks like

     

We unpacked the meaning of leadership and what it takes to be a leader. We wrote down the meaning of 4 different words team, leadership, role model, and responsibility which are all good qualities to have as a leader. We listed as many words as possible linked to leadership. Using these words we created a 25 word summary explaining what a leader is. After this we made a collaborative DLO explaining all the subjects we learnt in the session. 

Cybersmart Challenge by Heavenly

 L.I: Be cybersmart and use our devices to learn, create and share.

For this cybersmart challenge I had to fill in links that are apart of my learning and I just put in all the links like my Blog link, Class website link, Class blog link, my school website link and the PBS website link. The last slide I had to fill in was about my class call in lock down and I wrote down all the things you might have to or not do as you're in a call with LS2. This might help if its your first time in a lock down class call.

Why it is important to be Hydrated...

LI: to understand why staying hydrated is important for our health and learning.

Last week we looked at the importance of staying hydrated, especially in the warmer weather. To remind everyone to drink water we have set up a 'hydration station' in our classroom. The DLOs below are an example of one of our collaborative challenges to help us get to know each other, and learn to work together.
